Look for brushes made with natural fibers which will not irritate your skin or fall apart easily. Every couple of weeks, wash the makeup brushes in warm, sudsy water to remove any build up of makeup or dead skin cells. Store your makeup brushes in a moisture-free, clean bag or container and be sure they are not crushed under layers and layers of beauty products. Finally, if makeup brushes begin to wear out, spend a couple dollars and buy some new ones. Makeup brushes will not break your bank, but they will change the way you apply makeup.

Foundation
Although most women are used to with sponges in applying foundation, makeup experts are now suggesting using foundation brush. It has long bristles and flat shape that allows your foundation makeup to be applied evenly and blended flawlessly on your face.

Concealer
Fingers are usually used to apply concealer on parts of the face where there are blemishes you want to hide or on under-eye area that you want to lighten up. A concealer brush, however, can do the trick better and make concealer appear as if it's not there.

Powder
One of the most useful, a powder brush does not only help you apply loose powder to cover shiny areas missed by your makeup but it also helps in setting out excess powdery form of your makeup. Thus, a powder brush is essential in making sure that you have a neat and smudge-free makeup finish.

Eye Shadow
Ideally, one must have three kinds of eye shadow brushes namely a medium-sized brush for the lid, a small brush to line the socket of the eye, and a large brush to serve as highlighter to the eye area near or just below the brow. If you're using liquid eye shadow, get the brushes especially designed for it.

Blush
One of the largest makeup brushes, the blush brush has soft bristles that smoothly apply and blend blush color on your cheeks.

Lip
If you want more accurate lipstick coverage on your lips, better use a lip brush. It is less time-consuming and even makes lipstick color stay longer on your lips.
